Since I won't be home until rather shortly before the game is to commence, I'm going to put this here in hopes that anyone with a question comes to read it.

At the moment, I'm planning to use IRC if someone can point me toward a proper server, as I've had difficulty with AIM chats in the past, and MSN messenger sometimes fights with me as well. If you don't have a client, please download one, there are lots out there for free trial. (I prefer mIRC, myself.)

Since I haven't received any character sheets yet, the first bit of the game may (most likely will) be split up for individual interactions while I prelude you all to a meeting point. I find it fundamentally unlikely that I will be able to use the same prelude for everyone, so it'll take some time, but hopefully not too much. In any case, please have something with which to occupy downtime, as it is inevitable during this first session.

I'm off to work for now, so hopefully I'll see you when I get home. :)

Okay, so... I wish to DM. My game. I need for this some players. Based upon the reliable time I have free, that would be Sundays starting at 6PM. The rules are D&D 3.5 with a houserule document that is in continual progress, available upon request. The setting is Planescape. If you are reading this entry, you have an open invitation to join. As soon as I get three or more players, some planning will occur, and the game will commence, but others can always join in later.

The chargen rules once again are 25-point buy. Any race/class are permitted pending my approval and if I have a source reliably available to reference. Players unfamiliar with the setting are recommended to create primes (characters native to the Prime Material Plane), but this is not an actual restriction, due to the fact that it's a big multiverse out there, and even a lanned cutter can miss a few things now and then.

Questions and comments are welcomed, and I will offer whatever info I can. Please reply at your leisure.

So yes, I haven't posted in over a year. Them's just how it goes. Prepare for a'ranting.

If you are one of the myriad people who think it's fun to come into a store at ten minutes until closing time, FUCK YOU. No, really. Very seldom do I speak for more than myself. It would give me truly horrible sensations in the pit of my gut to speak for a group without knowing full well that we were of like minds. But in this sole instance, I think I speak for all of retaildom when we say that you are an asshole. We have been working x amount of time that day. We want to go home. The last thing we want to do is put up with you when there are closing procedures to be done. So fuck off. If you don't know exactly what you want and immediately ask someone where to find it, then go die in a hole. Don't come into my store. And when I ring something up at the wrong price while trying to get done with MY JOB at the time it's supposed to end that day, do not deign to call my store after closing time and give me shit for it. Yes, everyone rushed you out. Yes, everyone was very rude. Do you know why? Because maybe you won't come back. You are a fucking drop in the bucket. If you never come back again, we won't even notice on a financial level. We might notice that there's one less fuckmonkey to deal with though, and that's appreciated. Service drops at the end of the day because while you've obviously been done with work long enough to find your dumbass self in our store, we haven't. Closing time is not a point that you can enter until. Apparently, a lot of people have this misconception. Closing time is the point that I want everyone out. of. the. fucking. store. I have shit to do after those doors close. I still don't get to go home yet, so don't make my day any longer. The handful of minutes added to my paycheck is not going to make up for the fact that at the end of the day, I want one thing: I want to leave, and YOU are standing in my way. Don't be that person.

I'll look it over and approve of what I feel is appropriate. Keeping in mind that this is Planescape: Anything -could- be anywhere, but there are just as many places where a +1 sword is worth more than a whole kingdom's gold.

Greetings from December. The last post I made talked about beginning work at Keystone. I was there until September first, at which point I floated along a bit. Searching here, looking there, not really enthused about much of anything. Then I started searching the Post-Gazette website... and found management positions open. "I can do this," methinks. So I stopped into a place I had never so much as set foot in before: Altmeyer's in Miracle Mile, a shopping center in Monroeville. A "bed, bath, and home store" so it purports to be. At that time, I never knew I could possibly know so much about draperies. And yet... this works for me, for the time being. I've been at Altmeyer's since October 10th, making it the second-longest job I've ever had. I like my coworkers, and while the scheduling tends to be chaotic and hard to schedule social events around, actual management experience isn't a bad thing to add to the resume. So I'll be there until I pay off my student loans, I think. Unless something else comes along my way and changes things. Which, given the world we live in, is a distinct possibility.

So then, since the last post I have been merrily drudging away at job-locating and/or -finding. After numberous unresponsive apps turned in, and one false start at a company where I would've sooner bite faces off employees than work another moment there, I have found a lovely place called Keystone Tire. As recommended by Chuck, it's like being paid to work out. It's awesome. My only complaint is that with my current night-shift of 4PM-12:30AM, I really only have mornings and a bit to have a life in. But then again, most people I know are (or should be) up this late anyway.

This was your prescribed nudging for this time period.

*bows*

Degrees, Endings, and the Way Things Are

Since I received my degree in the mail a couple of days ago, I figured I'd update this thing, considering the last post I made here in the ol' livejournal was the schedule at the beginning of my final semester of college. Yes, I'm official. According to the Biology department of IUP, I am sufficiently knowing of stuff to have my Bachelor of Arts degree.

What I'm going to do with it, I don't know. In the broad expanse that has been my 22 years, I really never thought about what came after college. I always assumed it would work itself out in the meantime. Well, the meantime has come and gone, and I'm about to fall face-down into teh Real World (tm) without an inkling as to what I really want to be doing. Well, I know what I *really want* to be doing, but it's unrealistic roundabout now and it doesn't make me money. It makes me happy.

Sara leaves for camp on the 15th. I'm going to miss her so. I'm trying not to think about it too much.

Where does that leave me for the summer? Trying to get a job to occupy the time. When August rolls around, I'd like to have some funds to sit on while I figure all this out, talk, and deal with what does or does not come my way. The very idea of "career" puts a bad taste in my mouth at the moment, as I don't know where I'll want to be or even start looking, and I'm pretty sure that I don't want to settle on just one thing yet. I need to find out what I want to do that I can capitalize on.

I got my hair cut. It's shorter now than it's been since high school. I'll try to get a new picture up here sometime.

They say that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Red queen, and all that.

We'll see.

You know, normally I wouldn't post the results of such a quiz, but the fact that I got 100% elementality amuses me, and the fact that I have a dragon scale in my wand is going to bug the hell out of Vance. ;)
and it's made of Yew! Yew is grand!

12" Yew & Dragon
You scored 100% Elementality, 80% Magic Knowledge, and 45% Goodness!

Your wand is 12" and rather flexible, made of yew with a dragon scale
core. The yew is associated with death and resurrection,
transformation, and divination. This wand will be especially useful in
spells concerning those issues. Dragons are symbolic of primal energy,
strength, and protection of the weak and the dragon scales in your wand
will bring those elements to the party.
A lot has been said about how to prevent rape. Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. Women shouldn't have long hair and women shouldn't wear short skirts. Women shouldn't leave drinks unattended. Fuck, they shouldn't dare to get drunk at all.

Instead of that bullshit, how about:

If a woman is drunk, don't rape her.
If a woman is walking alone at night, don't rape her.
If a women is drugged and unconscious, don't rape her.
If a woman is wearing a short skirt, don't rape her.
If a woman is jogging in a park at 5 am, don't rape her.
If a woman looks like your ex-girlfriend you're still hung up on, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in her bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is asleep in your bed, don't rape her.
If a woman is doing her laundry, don't rape her.
If a woman is in a coma, don't rape her.
If a woman changes her mind in the middle of or about a particular activity, don't rape her.
If a woman has repeatedly refused a certain activity, don't rape her.

If a woman is not yet a woman, but a child, don't rape her.
If your girlfriend or wife is not in the mood, don't rape her.
If your step-daughter is watching tv, don't rape her. (Prowler's addendum: For that matter, any other activity as well.)
If you break into a house and find a woman there, don't rape her. (Prowler's addendum: And while we're at it, stop breaking into houses.)
If your friend thinks it's okay to rape someone, tell him it's not, and that he's not your friend.

If your "friend" tells you he raped someone, report him to the police.
If your frat-brother or another guy at the party tells you there's an unconscious woman upstairs and it's your turn, don't rape her, call the police and tell the guy he's a rapist.

Tell your sons, god-sons, nephews, grandsons, sons of friends it's not okay to rape someone.

Don't tell your women friends how to be safe and avoid rape.
Don't imply that she could have avoided it if she'd only done/not done x.
Don't imply that it's in any way her fault.
Don't let silence imply agreement when someone tells you he "got some" with the drunk girl.
Don't perpetuate a culture that tells you that you have no control over or responsibility for your actions. You can, too, help yourself.

If you agree, repost it. It's that important. [inserted by Illusionare: and actually read this before you repost it, fuckers.
So today, my professor handed out verb cards. A stack was passed back through each row. When the stack reached me, I selected "trinken," which means "to drink." We were to make a pair of sentences with the verb, using the simple past and past perfect tenses. My sentences?

Ich trank Wodka.
Ich hatte genug fur alle getrunken.

Sometimes, it's fun to be me.

Advent Children... an hour and a half that I want back

the Matrix... and Dragonball Z... had an analbaby. That analbaby... was Advent Children.

I think it all really came together for me toward the end, when Kaduj turned into sperm.

I have four words for the people that enjoyed this movie: What. The. Fuck. Ri-goddamn-diculous.

Three seconds of plot. Five minutes of pretty fight scene. Three more seconds of actual plot, which had absolutely no coherent bearing on the previous three seconds. Six minutes of pretty fight scene. Three minutes of Original Cast Montage (in which people keep flying higher and higher into the air with little to no regard for momentum, height, or atmospheric pressure... Cloud really should've started suffocating and/or exploded once he reached the height to have Bahamut catch his sword in its fucking teeth). Eight more minutes of fight scene (three seconds of actual plot here would've split up the last three things, but the three minutes of OCM mitigated that requirement). Fight scene, pretty airship, fight scene, fight scene, I've seen action movies with more depth than this, airship banter, airship flies away. Kaduj applies Jenova's leftover boob to his chest and goes Super-Saiyan Sephiroth... I'd ask how the sword elongated, but I'd probably just get a penis metaphor. I'd ask where the armor and suit alterations came from, but I really, really don't think I want to know. Proceed to lack all sense of physics (as if it hadn't been happening the entire movie) as Cloud and NewSephiroth gratuitously and shamelessly re-enact the last fifteen minutes of The Matrix Revolutions, but with SWORDS, so it's all fresh and new and awesome. SWORDS THAT HAVE GEARS AND ARE MECHANICAL OMG. There was no coherent plot. Things are introduced and never fleshed out or expanded upon beyond the "oh, you're a new person, *fight scene*." The movie finished without my having any more clue as to what was going on aside from every single Japanese Movie Cliche I've ever seen, along with a strained baptismal metaphor at the end where the kid is dunked in Mako, which magically heals the mysterious disease that is never adequately explained what it does, is, and came from. Go Cloud the baptist. I think I see Jesus in line waiting for his turn. Oh wait, no, equally inexplicably, that's Zack. Sprinkle Aeris appearances liberally throughout the above paragraph as often as you want, because that's clearly what the "writers" of this pile did.

This was more of a "look what I can do with fun-fun CGI" than Jurassic Park III was. If they'd spent half as much time programming the visual, then they'd have actually improved on the plot that the *game* had.

You people fucking scare me.

*BLUE MEMORY VORTEX*

I'm taking that archipelago and sinking it beneath the waves in order to raise Atlantis. Simply because nothing Atlantis ever produced could ever be so bizarre as the shit that comes out of Nippon's Q queue.

It wasn't deep. I didn't understand it because it didn't make sense. End of Story. Shut the fuck up. I hate you all. teehee! :)

Though I'm not sure I agree with the people who say that it leads into the standing series.
